DarkPlaces

DarkPlaces is a gameplay modification and a source port engine based on the computer game Quake.[3] It adds enhanced network code, with asynchronous delta compression inspired by Tribes networking,[citation needed] a built in server browser,[4] real-time lighting,[4][5] and bump mapping,[4][5] makes use of the OpenGL Shading Language[4] and supports Ogg Vorbis.[4]

DarkPlaces is actively developed by Forest "LordHavoc" Hale[4] and contributors. It is based on the Quake source code.[4]

Games that use DarkPlaces include Nexuiz,[6][7] Transfusion, and Nehahra (and by extension the machinima film The Seal of Nehahra).
